Urad Dhuli Dal

(Serves 2)




Ingredients


  1. 2/3 cup urad dhuli dal (black gram skinned)

  2. 2-3 tomatoes finely chopped

  3. 2-3 green chilies finely chopped

  4. 1 tbsp grated ginger

  5. 1 tbsp grated garlic

  6. Fresh coriander

  7. 1 tbsp mustard oil

  8. Salt to taste

  9. 1 tsp black pepper or garam masala

  10. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  11. 1/2 tsp red chili powder

  12. 1 tsp coriander powder

  13. 1 tbsp cumin seeds

  14. 1/2 tsp asafetida


Procedure



  1. Soak dal for 20-30 mins.

  2. Heat oil in cooker.

  3. Add cumin seeds and asafetida, toss for a min.

  4. Add grated garlic and sauté for a min or two.

  5. Add ginger and sauté for 2-3 mins.

  6. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 5-7 mins.

  7. Add spices and mix well.

  8. Add dal (drained) and cook for 3-4 mins.

  9. Add 1 cup water and cover it with lid.

  10. Give 2 whistle and lower the flame for 5 mins.



For serving


Garnish it with fresh coriander, add some lemon juice and sprinkle some black pepper. Serve hot with phulka and enjoy
