Samak Khichadi

(Serves 2-3)






Ingredients


  1. 1 cup samak k chawal (Barnyard millet)

  2. 2-3 tomatoes

  3. 2-3 green chilies

  4. 1 tea spoon grated ginger

  5. 2-3 tb spoon ghee

  6. Senda namak for taste

  7. 1 tea spoon cumin seeds

  8. 1/2 tea spoon red chili powder

  9. 1/2 tea spoon dry mango powder

  10. 1/2 tea spoon coriander powder


Procedure





  1. Take a pressure cooker, heat ghee and add cumin seeds.

  2. Add grated ginger and stir well.

  3. Toss for a min or two.

  4. Add tomatoes and green chilies paste and mix well.

  5. Add 1 cup water.

  6. Cook for 3-4 mins and add all spices.

  7. Add samak chawal and water.

  8. Mix well for 2 mins and cover the cooker with a lid.

  9. Give a 1 whistle and switch off the flame.

  10. Open the lid and add 1/2 cup water (if required).
