Ingredients
1 cup urad dal overnight soaked
3 cup chawal (tota chawal) over night soaked
1.5 tsp salt
Oil for greasing
Procedure
For Idli Batter
Grind the urad dal into smooth paste ( if required add little water for grinding)
Add urad dal in a big mixing bowl
Grind chawal into smooth paste ( if required add little water for grinding)
Add chawal paste in the same mixing bowl and mix together
Add salt mix it well
Keep it aside for 6-7 hours for fermentation
For Idli
Take idli maker
Grease the plates and add idli batter
Side by side add water till the idli stand to boiling
Add the idli stand in the cooker and cover it for 5-7 mins
Switch off the flame and let it cool down
You can check with the help of toothpick that idlis are cooked or not
For Serving
Serve idli with chutney and sambar. Refer to our south indian section for their recipes.
