Punjabi Matar Kadhi

(Serves 4-5)




Ingredients for Kadhi


  1. 1 onion finely sliced

  2. 1 cup peas

  3. 7-8 garlic cloves finely chopped

  4. 500gm curd (sour)

  5. 2-3 tb spoon besan

  6. Salt to taste

  7. 1/2-1 tea spoon red chili powder

  8. 1 tea spoon turmeric

  9. 1/2-1 tea spoon dry mango powder

  10. 1/2-1 tea spoon coriander powder


Ingredients for Tadka


  1. 1 tb spoon mustard oil

  2. 1/2-1 tea spoon sarso

  3. 1/2 tea spoon methi dana

  4. 1/2 tea spoon hing

  5. 1 tea spoon grated ginger

  6. 5-6 red chilli

  7. 9-10 curry leave

  8. Salt to taste

  9. 1/2 tea spoon red chili powder

  10. 1/2 tea spoon dry mango powder

  11. 1 tea spoon coriander powder


PROCEDURE





For Kadhi


  1. Take a mixing bowl.

  2. Add curd and besan.

  3. Add 1 cup of water.

  4. Add spices and whisk well the ingredients, so that no lumps are to be found.

  5. Take pressure cooker, add ghee.

  6. Add garlic and sauté for a min.

  7. Add onions and cook till it changes color.

  8. Add kadhi batter and 1-2 cups of water cook well for 15-20 mins on low medium flame.

  9. Add 1 cup of water, as kadhi batter will get thick and cook on low flame.

  10. Add peas and mix it well.

  11. Let it cook on low flame for further 15-20 mins.



For Tadka


  1. Take a pan and heat oil.

  2. Add mustard seeds, once crackling sounds comes, add curry leaves, ginger, red chilies, methi (fenugreek) seeds and sauté well for 2-3 mins. Add all the spices and toss well for 1min.

  3. Add tadka in the kadhi. Simmer the cooker in low flame for 15-20 mins.


For Serving


You can again take mustard oil (1/2 tea spoon) and add mustard seeds and 1-2 red chili for garnishing and serve hot with Rice.. Enjoy!!
