Masala Sambar



Ingredients


  1. Take 1.5 cup arhar dal or toor dal (wash it well)

  2. 4-5 cups water

  3. 1 sliced onion (optional)

  4. 5-6 tomatoes chopped

  5. 200 gms pumpkin chopped

  6. 1 tbsp grated ginger

  7. Imli pulp

  8. 4-5 red chilies

  9. 1 tb spoon oil

  10. 1 tb spoon mustard seeds

  11. 7-8 curry leaves

  12. 1/2 tea spoon hing

  13. Salt to taste

  14. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  15. 1 tsp dry mango powder

  16. 1-2 tbsp Sambar Masala


Procedure


  1. Take a cooker add washed arhar dal, water, add chopped tomatoes, pumpkin, salt and turmeric powder

  2. Cover it with lid and let 5-6 whistles come.

  3. Open the lid and add the Tadka

  4. Mix well and add imli pulp and Sambar Masala.

  5. Taste the sambar if it is not sour add more imli pulp as per your taste


For tadka


  1. Take a pan and heat oil

  2. Add mustard seeds

  3. Add curry leave, hing, red chillies and saute it well

  4. Add onions and sauté it for 5 mins (optional),

  5. Add 1/2 tsp Sambar masala

  6. And add this tadka in boiled dal


For Serving

Serve hot idli with sambar and chutney
