(Serves 5)
Ingredients
1 cup urad chilka (split black gram)
1/2 cup chana dal (split chickpeas)
4-5 tomatoes finely chopped
2-3 green chilies finely chopped
1 tbsp grated ginger
Fresh coriander
1/4 cup fresh cream
2 tbsp ghee
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1.5 tsp red chili powder
2 tsp dry mango powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp asafetida
Procedure
For boiling
Wash both the dals together.
Take a pressure cooker and add washed dal.
Add 2.5 cups water, 1 tsp salt and turmeric powder.
Cover it with lid and give 3 whistles.
For Tadka
Take big kadai and heat ghee.
Add cumin seeds, after a min add grated ginger.
Cook for min or two and add asafetida.
Add finely chopped tomatoes and green chilies, mix well.
Cook it for 10-12 mins on low medium flame.
Add fresh coriander and mix well.
Add spices and cook further for 10 mins.
Your tadka is ready.
For Langar wali dal
Add boiled dal with water on the tadka.
Let it cook on low flame for 15-20 mins.
Keep stiring in between.
Add fresh cream and mix well.
Cook further for 10-15 mins.
For serving
Garnish it with fresh cream and kasuri methi and serve hot with tawa tandoori roti/ butter naan/ phulka and enjoy
