Ingredients
For Gatte
1 small bowl besan (chickpea flour)
1 small onion finely chopped
2-3 green chilies chopped
Salt to taste
1 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
1/2 tsp asafetida (hing)
1-2 tbsp Oil
Water as required (for dough)
Water for boiling
For Gravy
1 onion finely chopped
1 tomatoes finely chopped
2-3 green chilies finely chopped
8-10 garlic cloves finely chopped
1 tbsp grated ginger
2 tbsp whisk curd
Salt to taste
1 tsp red chili powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1-2 tbsp oil

For Gatte
Take a mixing bowl.
Add besan, onion and green chilies.
Add spices and oil.
Add water and knead a dough.
Boil water in big pan.
Grease your hand with water/oil.
Take a small ball, and roll it.
Add the besan roll in boiling water.
Keep it in boiling water for 3-4 mins.
Use toothpick to check, gatte are cooked or not by pricking it. Also it will float on the water, one's cooked.
Strain it from the water and keep it aside and cut it 1-2 inch long.
Note - Do not discard the boiled water. Keep it for gravy.
For Gravy
Heat oil in pan.
Add garlic and ginger, toss it for a min or two.
Add onions and green chilies.
Cook well, till it changes color.
Add tomatoes and mix well.
Cook till it turns soft and mushy.
Add spices and mix well.
Add curd and mix well.
Add this prepared masala in the boiled water, which we kept aside.
Bring it to boil.
Add prepared gatte and cook well for 5-10 more mins.
For Serving
